• A plant scientist, having a ‘feel’ for the minute details of the plants – and a belief that understanding the molecular basis of subtle variations can enhance a plant’s performance in the field against biotic and abiotic stress.
• He is in the field of plant science research for the last 34 years.
• His area of research interest is Marker Assisted Plant Breeding, Plant Biotechnology and Molecular Biology.
• After graduating from Presidency College, Kolkata, and post-graduation in Botany (University of Calcutta) he did his doctoral work at Bose Institute. He has a Post Doctoral Research experience for over twelve years.
• Gangopadhyay has 86 research publications, 67 NCBI GenBank submissions, and 14 submissions in high-throughput sequencing database, SRA (Sequence Read Archive). His h-index is 17 and i10-index is 30.
• He has supervised eight Ph.D. and seven M.Sc. dissertation theses, and presently two doctoral and two post-doctoral students are working with him.
