About College
Rampurhat College (Govt. Spons.), established in 1950, has traversed a long path warding off the challenges of time and put its mark in the history of higher education in the area. It is affiliated to the University of Burdwan. The College has three shifts-Morning, Day and Evening. Honours & General subjects are taught in the day shift the morning shift only for the Arts general stream and the evening shift is exclusively for the Commerce, both Honours & General. The Post Graduate Course in Bengali on a regular basis has been started from the session 2014-15 and the Post Graduate Courses in English and Sanskrit on a regular basis will be opened this year. It has been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a B grade for its high standards of education. This year, we proudly celebrate our Diamond Jubilee, marking 75 years of academic excellence and contributions to education.
About the Department of Geography
The Department of Geography at Rampurhat College was established in 2003. The department is now equipped with a well-furnished laboratory and up-to-date geographical instruments. Our young faculties encourage a research-oriented approach among their students, fostering a vibrant academic environment. The department actively organizes study tours, seminars, e-magazines, and continuous field surveys with students, making the learning experience dynamic and engaging. The primary objective of the department is to deliver education of the highest quality, preparing students for successful careers. We focus on equipping students with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their courses, and to empower them towards progress, advancement, dissemination, and the attainment of higher education. In essence, the department is committed to fostering a supportive, empowering learning environment geared towards the realization of students’ goals.
