Dr. Raju Thapa : IAGR Conference 2024

  Dr. Raju Thapa, Chairperson, Disaster Preparedness Network-Nepal (DPNet-Nepal), Nepal Dr. Raju Thapa is a distinguished lawyer and disaster management expert from Kathmandu, Nepal. He holds a Ph.D. in Disaster Management from Mewar University, along with multiple master’s degrees in Human Rights, Conflict Peace & Development, Political Science, and Sociology from Tribhuvan University and the University of Madras. Dr. Thapa has over a decade of experience working with international organizations, including the UN, OXFAM, UNICEF, UNDP, and Save the Children, among others. His expertise spans Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Climate Change Adaptation (CCA), policy governance, legal work, capacity building, and research. He has led 23 DRR and CCA assignments, developed disaster management plans, and facilitated DRR and GEDSI training. His impactful work has earned recognition, including the Australia Award and being a finalist in Queensland University of Technology’s impact story in 2019. Dr. Thapa has also published extensively, contributing to journals on topics like human rights, conflict, and disaster management.
