Dr. Sujay Bandyopadhyay : IAGR Conference 2024

Dr. Sujay Bandyopadhyay, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography at Kazi Nazrul University, Asansol, West Bengal, holds a Ph.D. in Geography from The University of Burdwan, West Bengal. A major part of his doctoral research was carried out at the Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, Dehradun, using Quaternary fluvial deposits and Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) dating. He is a dedicated researcher with interests in geomorphology, Quaternary fluvial records, flood hazards, palaeoclimate reconstruction, and remote sensing and GIS applications. He has received numerous scientific awards and scholarships, such as ECS Support from the European Geosciences Union (EGU), German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF)-DAAD scholarship, and NRWA from the Quaternary Research Association, UK. Sujay’s research contributions have been recognized internationally, as seen in his grants from associations like International Association of Sedimentologists (IAS), International Association of Geomorphologists (IAG), International Union for Quaternary Research (INQUA), and International Association of Mathematical Geosciences (IAMG), enabling his participation in various conferences and summer schools worldwide. He has published a number of well-cited studies in reputed journals like International Journal of Disaster Risk Reduction, Geological Journal, Episodes, Environmental Earth Sciences, International Journal of River Basin Management, and Current Science in these fields. He has also contributed a number of book chapters in edited volumes published by reputed international publishers like Springer on climate change impacts, flood vulnerability assessment and risk reduction, embankment breaching studies, and watershed management. He is a regular reviewer of submitted articles for quite a few reputed journals like Journal of Hydrology (Elsevier), Journal of the Geological Society of India (Springer), Earth Systems and Environment (Springer), International Journal of River Basin Management (Taylor and Francis). Sujay Bandyopadhyay’s dedication to research and consistent recognition in the field highlights his commitment to advancing Geomorphology and Quaternary Science.
